Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management Honored by Emergency Management Association of Texas With Excellence in Emergency Management Award
Harris County, TX – The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) was recognized by the Emergency Management Association of Texas (EMAT) with its Excellence in Emergency Management Award at the annual EMAT Leadership Symposium in College Station, Texas.
This award recognizes new outstanding local, regional, state, and tribal nation emergency management programs, projects, activities, and campaigns that promote preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, and resilience in Texas. HCOHSEM was honored for their new “Ready for Anything” video—available in English, Spanish, and with ASL captions—that walks residents through essential steps such as assembling an emergency kit, developing a family plan, registering for alerts, and getting involved in community preparedness. The video complements the updated HCOHSEM Emergency Preparedness Guide and other printed materials. By delivering information in both multimedia and print formats, HCOHSEM is expanding access to critical preparedness resources and meeting residents where they are. The video and Emergency Preparedness Guide are available at www.ReadyHarris.org.
“Preparedness starts with accessible information,” said Harris County Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Sloan. “The ‘Ready for Anything’ video reflects our commitment to reaching every resident with clear, practical guidance they can act on today. This recognition from EMAT affirms our team’s dedication to our mission of readiness and strengthening resilience across Harris County.”
