CHAMBERS COUNTY | Air Monitoring - Chambers County, TX – March 22, 2019
In response to the ITC incident in Deer Park, Chambers County will be conducting air monitoring today and this weekend along the entire length of West Chambers County, from Beach City through Mont Belvieu. “We want our citizens to feel safe and to know that we are monitoring the situation,” says County Judge Jimmy Sylvia. Chambers County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been in communication with Harris County OEM and Baytown OEM, and has been receiving period updates regarding plume direction. According to Chambers County Emergency Management Coordinator, Roy K. Turner, “We have also been in contact directly with the National Weather Service regarding significant forecast and wind direction changes.” In addition, Chambers County has been in direct communication with the Center for Toxicology & Environmental Health (CTEH), the independent company that has been providing air monitoring during the incident. Should there be wind shifts or anticipated plume direction changes, CTEH has informed the county that they will shift monitoring sites where needed.
