Update on KMCO Crosby Fire-Shelter in Place Lifted


According to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Shelter in Place for the KMCO Fire in Crosby has been lifted. HCFMO reports that one person died and two people were critically injured at the KMCO plant fire Tuesday morning. The fire at the plant located at 16503 Ramsey Road has been contained and responders are working to prevent it from spreading to nearby tanks. 

Currently, Precinct 2 has closed Crosby-area parks/facilities:
  • Crosby Park
  • Crosby Sports Complex
  • Crosby Community Center

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and Harris County Pollution Control are onsite monitoring air quality. According to the EPA there are currently no detections that require action.
