Earlier this afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning to include Harris County from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm Monday evening and a Wind Advisory that is currently in effect until 6:00 pm Monday evening.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can create fire growth potential. During Red Flag Warnings, residents should avoid open flames or sparks, keep their vehicles off dry grass, and properly discard cigarettes.
A Wind Advisory is also in effect with sustained winds of 20-30 mph and potential wind gusts of 45 mph. Residents should secure loose objects around their property.
