What is the danger?
Located north/northwest of Tropical Storm Helene, Subtropical Storm Joyce has formed in the central Atlantic and is the tenth named storm of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season. According to the National Hurricane Center, Joyce will continue moving slowly southwestward, but then turn northeast as it becomes a tropical storm and interacts with cooler waters. Although Joyce is not expected to impact our area, there is still a potential for tropical weather through the weekend from system developing in the Gulf of Mexico.
What you need to do:
Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) encourages residents to monitor the forecast daily and prepare for tropical weather later this week.
Get A Kit

- Remember to pack special items for pets, children and elderly family members.
Make A Plan
- Review your family’s emergency communication plan.
- Find out if you live in an evacuation area with the interactive Zip-Zone Evacuation Map. There are no evacuation orders at this time.
- Texans with functional and access needs can register for assistance by calling 2-1-1.
