Heavy Rainfall Possible Tonight through Monday Morning
The
National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Harris County tonight through 7 a.m. Monday. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected through the overnight hours. Widespread rainfall totals could average from one to two inches with isolated higher amounts of four inches along and north of 1-10. Long periods of heavy rainfall could lead to rapid street flooding.
A Flash Flood Warning is currently in effect for north central Harris County until 2145 as thunderstorms produce heavy rain across the warned area.
The Harris County Office of Homeland Security (HCOHSEM) is monitoring weather conditions along with Harris County Flood Control District and NWS.
What you should do:
HCOHSEM urges residents to closely monitor the weather through tomorrow morning and check road conditions ahead of their morning commute. Sign up to receive emergency alerts at

Remember to bring your pets inside and delay travel or outdoor activities during periods of heavy rainfall. If travel is unavoidable, reduce your speed to avoid hydroplaning. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your area, DO NOT TRAVEL.
DRIVE SAFELY - If you must travel, never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates.
- Always remember to Turn Around, Don’t Drown! DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES.
- Just two feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.

El Servicio Nacional de Meteorología (NWS) ha emitido una alerta de inundaciónes repentinas para el Condado Harris en efecto hasta las 7:00 a.m. del lunes. Existe la posibilidad de tormentas eléctricas y lluvias fuertes durante las horas de la noche. Los totales de lluvia podrían promediar de una a dos pulgadas con cantidades aisladas más altas de hasta cuatro pulgadas a lo largo y al norte de la carretera I-10. Largos períodos de fuertes lluvias podrían causar inundaciones repentinas en las calles.
Actualmente está vigente una advertencia de inundación repentina en el centro-norte del Condado de Harris hasta 2145, ya que las tormentas eléctricas producen fuertes lluvias en el área advertida.
La oficina de seguridad y manejo de emergencias del Condado Harris (HCOHSEM) está monitoreando las condiciones del tiempo junto con la oficina para el control de inundaciones y el NWS.

- ¡Recuerde regrésese y no se ahogue! NO CONDUZCA en aguas altas y NO CONDUZCA ALREDEDOR DE BARRICADAS.
- Tan solo dos pies de agua pueden barrer su vehículo.
