| Severe Weather Potential for Christmas Day |
|
National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters are warning that a storm system entering Harris County in the early hours of Christmas Day may create conditions favorable to tornado development. There is some uncertainty in the timing and severity of the forecast but the threat of tornado activity should always be taken seriously. In the event tornadoes develop, residents should be prepared to take shelter in an interior, windowless room on the lowest floor of their building until danger passes. Residents should monitor forecasts and weather conditions through NWS and local media throughout the holiday. In addition, NWS forecasts are available online at: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/ The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) will monitor this weather situation and post updates as needed. All watches and warnings issued by NWS will automatically feed to our Twitter and Facebook pages. These can be accessed at: http://www.facebook.com/hcohsem http://www.twitter.com/hcohsem HCOHSEM wishes you a happy and safe holiday. |
