Update: Tropical Depression 13 (Fri-1000)

Tropical Depression 13 has formed in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 250 miles southeast of Beaumont, Texas. Current forecasts from the National Hurricane Center indicate that it will make landfall as Tropical Storm Lee either late Sunday night or early Monday morning in Louisiana.

Impact in the southeast Texas region is expected to be minimal with most areas seeing less than one inch of precipitation. Coastal communities may see slightly elevated tides Friday night but those should subside by Saturday morning. Minor beach flooding is possible.

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) will continue to monitor tropical weather forecasts related to this storm and issue updates as necessary. No emergency actions are required at this time.

HCOHSEM remains at Level 3 (Increased Readiness) in coordination with the Harris County Fire Marshal in response to the ongoing drought and high fire danger.
