Update: Rainfall Expected Through the Weekend
What is the danger?
A major rainfall event is unfolding in west and northwest Harris County. Some locations have seen four inches of rainfall in one hour. Continued heavy rain will cause rises in creeks and bayous. Hail, some the size of golf balls, has been reported.
The
National Weather Service (NWS) will likely issue multiple watches and warnings over the course of the evening and into the morning.
The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management is monitoring at level III with Harris County Flood Control District and other partners.
What you should do:
STAY PUT
- Residents are strongly encouraged to stay home and not travel if possible.
- With continued heavy rainfall, roadways will be under water.
- If you are out, please seek shelter.
- Do not attempt to walk or swim through floodwaters.
- Friday morning drive time could be impacted.
STAY INFORMED
- Monitor local media throughout the weekend.

- Get updates from trusted sources such as: National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, Harris County Flood Control District, and ReadyHarris.
