Potential for Severe Weather Overnight

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting the potential for severe weather overnight and into Thursday morning. Although the rain is moving in later today, the stronger storms are expected to occur overnight. The current threat is to areas north of Harris County, where heavy rainfall of two to three inches can accumulate and cause localized flooding on streets and in low-lying areas. Strong winds, hail, lightning and isolated tornadoes are possible. Please take the necessary precautions and monitor weather conditions before heading out in the morning.

What you should do:
DRIVE SAFELY
  • If you must travel never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates.
  • Always remember to Turn Around, Don’t Drown! DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES.
  • Just two feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
