Potential for Heavy Rainfall and Street Flooding

What is the danger?

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) there is a potential for heavy rainfall starting tonight and continuing through tomorrow evening. Street flooding could occur along underpasses and low-lying areas. Up to three inches of rain or more is expected to fall over the region. Rain may move repeatedly over an area, which may cause a rapid rise in creeks and bayous. The morning commute could be affected.

What You Should Do:

HCOHSEM urges residents to monitor the weather and pay attention to their local meteorologists and the NWS. Rainfall totals can be monitored on the Harris County Flood Warning System. Please use caution during your morning commute. If you must travel never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates. Always remember Turn Around, Don’t Drown! ® DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES! Just 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
