Welcomes Residents from Shelters Across the Region

Harris County Judge Emmett is opening the NRG Center shelter to displaced residents from Harris County and neighboring counties in order to maximize resources available for recovery and relief.
The American Red Cross will work with shelter managers from across the region, to transfer displaced residents from smaller shelters to NRG Center, beginning tomorrow.
Hundreds of people who were forced out of their homes as a result of the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey were welcomed to the NRG Center shelter last night.
The facility comforts include:
• On-site clinic
• On-site pharmacy
• On-site bussing to local stores
• A grocery store
• A clothing store
• On-site theater for kids
• Is pet friendly.
The NRG Center shelter has a capacity for 10,000 occupants and is managed by BakerRipley.
City of Houston shelters at the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Toyota Center remain open.
